So, a few years ago, something happened to me that completely changed how I look at opportunity. I posted a video online. Just a normal post like any other. All of a sudden, seconds after I uploaded it, something strange happened.
A trending arrow appeared on the video.
At first I didn’t even understand what that meant, but within minutes my phone started going crazy. Every second the views were jumping by hundreds. Notifications were exploding. It felt unreal. Within a short time I went from around 700 followers… to nearly 10,000.
My first real viral moment, but here’s the part most people don’t talk about when something like that happens to them, (if it ever does, because it's that rare)
I wasn’t ready for it.
All of a sudden people were flooding my page. Comments were coming in hot. DM's and Followers growing by the minute, and I really had nothing ready for them to see.
No real system were built yet. I didn't have a clear message, or structure to execute.
Just one viral video. So, instead of riding that momentum like anyone would of if they were ready for it, I froze up. I didn’t know what to say to all of these new people. I didn’t know how to handle that much attention. So instead of doubling down for real, I stepped back and by then, slowly the momentum faded like my confidence started too.
I watched the numbers drop lower week after week. All those millions of views I just earned turned into hundreds of thousands, then just a few thousands. That moment taught me something I’ll never forget, Opportunity can arrive before preparation, and if you’re not ready when it does, it will slip away faster than it arrived. Everyone wants to have these type of moments online but won't execute with outline.
At the time I thought I had failed, but looking back now, I realize that moment actually opened the door for everything that came after that. It forced me to learn on the spot. My hunger grew when I started studying content.
Studying how to grow a business online. Studying how the internet actually works. Ideas kept me up late nights, as I filled notebook after notebook with strategies, and lessons from people who were already succeeding. Over the next two years I slowly built systems that promoted my strengths, I built a website, created products. I learned how to structure my content better.
Now, five years after starting my business, everything looks different to me.
Today I have things that I didn’t have during that viral moment:
A podcast, Multiple websites. A content strategy, Books, Merch. A real studio setup even, because back then I was just posting and hoping something worked. Now I understand the bigger picture. I understand that attention is powerful… but systems are what turn attention into growth.
People think success happens overnight all the time, but most of the time success is built through years of learning behind the scenes. Making mistakes, then making adjustments.
All Trial and error, and the difference between who I was then and who I am now is simple. Now I’m ready, feel me? If another viral moment happens tomorrow, I created a blueprint of what to do with it. Basically I’ve spent years preparing for the opportunity that caught me off guard.
A lot of people wait for the perfect moment, but the truth is… The moment might arrive before you feel ready, and that’s okay, because sometimes the opportunity isn’t meant to make you famous. Sometimes it’s meant to teach you how to prepare for the next one.
So if you’re building something right now like I am, and it feels slow…
Keep going! Every skill you’re learning today might be the thing that prepares you for the opportunity that could change everything tomorrow.
