There’s this lie floating around…

That a man can only walk away if he’s got someone else waiting in the wings.

That peace couldn’t possibly be the reason.

That stillness isn’t powerful enough to pull him away.

But let me speak for the men who stay too long —

The ones who love in full but only get fragments in return.

The ones who are told, “you’re not perfect either,” every time they ask for the bare minimum.

I didn’t leave for another woman.

I didn’t cheat.

I didn’t lie.

I didn’t raise my hand, raise my voice, or raise hell.

I raised a family.

I raised standards.

And I raised myself.

I gave everything.

Even when my own emotional needs were going unmet, I stayed.

Even when I was being drained daily, I stayed.

Even when I should’ve let go for my own mental health, I stayed.

No — I’m not running into someone else’s arms.

I’m walking back into my own peace.

This book — The Mirror Has Thorns — is not about bashing anybody.

It’s about finally saying the things men aren’t allowed to say.

It’s about the courage to admit when you’re hurting.

And the strength to stop hiding that pain just to protect someone else’s comfort.
