🌸 She’s Still the Root

Today’s not just a holiday. It’s a checkpoint.

A moment to breathe, reflect, and give the flowers while she can still smell them.

I pulled up with her favorite plate — chicken, cole slaw, and those apple pie poppers she loves. Nothing fancy, just a little love in a bag, delivered with it with respect. She smiled like it was Christmas.

Then I handed her the bouquet — real soft pastels and bright petals — and she lit up. Same glow I remember seeing when I was five, holding a construction-paper card with crooked hearts on it.

But let me be real for a second.

We shouldn't worship our mothers. That’s not what God ever told us to do.

And truthfully, a lot of people get caught up doing exactly that — placing them on a throne only The Most High belongs on.

We should honor them though, because that’s what God said to do. “Honor thy father and thy mother.” That’s the legacy. That’s love.

Not just on some one-day-a-year when the world says it’s okay — but every day.

Quietly. Loudly. In the ways that matter.

So yeah, I gave my mom flowers today, but more than that, I gave her time. I gave her presence. I gave her thanks.

Without her strength, her struggle, her faith — I wouldn’t be here writing this. So no, that’s not worship. That’s honor. And I’ll do that every day God gives me breath.

Love you, Ma. 💐

Forever your son.
