The other night, while waiting on my laundry to finish spinning, I looked over at the little bookshelf near the exit—one of those “take one, leave one” setups somebody from the community built. No cash, no catch. Just stories being passed between strangers. That’s when it hit me.

I reached into my bag and pulled out two copies—one of Built Different, one of The Mirror Has Thorns. No announcement. No name tag. No barcode. Just two pieces of my truth, left behind like a whisper.

I didn’t write anything in them, and I kind of wish I had. Something simple like:

“To whoever finds this,
I hope this book reaches you where you need it.
I hope it speaks to something you couldn’t explain yet.”

Tonight I came back to dry my clothes before closing time, and both books were gone.

Somebody picked them up.

Somebody’s holding pieces of my story in their hands right now.

And maybe—just maybe—those words will land exactly where they’re supposed to.

I don’t know who took the books. I don’t know if they speak English. I don’t know if they’ll ever look up my name. But I do know this:

The moment you plant with pure intention, it’s no longer your job to track the outcome. That seed is in God’s hands now.

So if you’re reading this blog post because you found one of those books—welcome. This whole site is an open door. I write to heal. I write to grow. I write to remind people that we’re not crazy for feeling deeply. We’re just built different.

And if you’re one of my readers—someone who’s been here, walking this journey with me—this post is your reminder to sow your gifts freely. Not everything you drop needs a spotlight. Sometimes the greatest impact comes in the moments nobody sees.

I’m keeping that energy. Quietly changing lives, one laundromat at a time.

Share this post with someone who’s building quietly.
And if you’ve ever picked up a book that changed your life, drop a comment. I’d love to hear the story.
